Today I’m taking a look at  set 60220. The Lego City Garbage Truck. Released in 2019 this set is rated as a ‘4+’ set. Meaning it’s suitable for any much younger builders, this doesn’t prevent it fitting in with any LEGO city collection, however. Let’s take a look… One look at the box and it’s plain to see that the emphasis of this set is on playability. In the current climate of LEGO sets that are aimed squarely at the AFOL community, it’s nice to contrast that with the simple construction and sense of fun we have here. Both The […]

The ‘battle packs’ are a staple of the LEGO Star Wars line. Apart from being great value, they are a great option for troop building for any collector working on large dioramas, or just collecting minifigs en masse. Given the popularity of the Disney+ streaming Star Wars show, a battle pack based on The Mandalorian was always going to be a no-brainer. This 2020 set features 4 different styled (albeit quite similar) Mandalorian warriors, along with a small speeder bike, and a piece of scenery. Starting with the biggest draw of the set, which is obviously the minifigures themselves. The […]

It’s hard to believe this is the 6th(!) iteration of Luke Skywalker’s iconic landspeeder from the first Star Wars movie, the original was produced way back in 1999 and was one of the first LEGO Star Wars sets to hit shelves. With the constant addition of new parts and techniques though, each subsequent release has made changes that bring the model closer to it’s on screen counterpart. Today I’m looking at set 75271, released in 2020 and part of the current Star Wars wave of sets. This updated version of the vehicle comes with 3 minifigures, a listed piece count […]

Today I’m reviewing a slightly older set, though this 2013 Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles set is long since retired, I was lucky enough to pick one up sealed. I already have the other 2 Turtles not included here, so this was purchased to round out my crew. This set contains 397 pieces and originally retailed for around £39.99, this was a mid tier set for this theme and is based on the 2012 CG animated series produced by Nickelodeon, and is branded as such on the box. The set contains 4 minifigs, a buildable mouser robot, 2 small vehicles for […]

Continuing on with my look at my recently purchased Powerpuff girls themed sets, today I’m looking at set no. 41287 Bubbles Playground Showdown. You can read my previous review here Released alongside it’s companion set In 2018, this is the smaller of the 2, with a piece count of just 144. It is the same recommended age range of 6-12 and we get the same style artwork for the box. Bold, bright and colourful, just like it’s source material. There are no stickers in this one thankfully. Just the instructions, 2 small bags of parts and a loose slide piece […]

Animated shows (much like LEGO) are something that can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter your age. Although I was in my late teens back when The Powepuff Girls was at it’s most popular. It was still a show I’d watched quite a few episodes of and enjoyed. So when I saw that the LEGO sets based on the rebooted version of the show were on clearance on the official LEGO website. I snapped up both of the sets that were released. Today I’m taking a look at the bigger of the 2 sets. Set no.  41288 Mojo Jojo strikes. […]

Regular readers will remember I recently reviewed set 76096 Superman and Krypto team up. Up for review today we have something of a companion piece to that particular set, as it also contains another canine companion for the included hero. This time around, its Ace the Bat Hound that’s included, alongside the Dark Knight himself. Let’s take a look… This 155 piece set was released back in 2018 and is officially retired, although still in plentiful supply at most retailers. Apart from Batman himself along with Ace. The set contains 2 Talon assassins, and a massive Tricylcle vehicle. The box […]

The DC Super Heroes line from LEGO has been one of it’s most popular and long running licensed themes, built primarily off the eternal popularity of Batman, LEGO have also a done a great job of bringing the other costumed heroes from the various worlds of DC to minifig form. The set I’m reviewing today is 76096 – ‘Superman and Krypto team-up’. It was originally released back in 2018 and is officially retired, but can still be found for retail price from some online sellers at the time of writing. It comprises 199 pieces and comes with 2 minifigs (and […]

The coming of the new year brings with it a whole new wave of LEGO city sets. The first one I knew I had to pick up as soon as I saw it, was set 60253 – The Ice Cream truck. Aside from the truck itself, this sub £20 set contains a couple of minifigs and a dog. It contains 200 pieces and is recommended for builders age 5 and up, making it suitable for all but the very youngest LEGO fans. The box art shows the finished model along with all the included characters. The vehicle is built in […]
