The latest LEGO Modular dropped 1st January and Brick Artisan has already designed an alternative build for it!
The talented fan designer has taken a 3,000 plus piece set and transformed it into something completely different. The build, dubbed Downtown Shops, is an alternate design of the LEGO Icons Shopping Street (11371) set. It uses parts from the set with 76 pieces leftover (not including the spares that come with the set). It keeps some of the original sets features and colour schemes, but overall built in a completely different way. The indent made by the two angled buildings is gone and instead is a typical row of shops.
The small building on the left is Tino’s Plumbing Supplies & Services, it’s filled with plumbing materials on the ground and second floor. There’s an office space above that on the top floor. The sand green and white building is Martha’s Uniform & Fabric shop. The ground and second floors have sample uniforms, accessories and fabrics whilst the top floor has the office and sewing space to accommodate requests to make uniforms or costumes for the customers.

This is a great looking alternative build that many fans may prefer to the original, as it was not widely accepted by many AFOLs. The size of the set remains the same and the pieces used are done to good effect, it looks stunning and rather grandeur. Brick Artisan has done a wonderful job in designing and building this alternate build, from the tiled walkway and exterior details, to the colour scheme of dark blues, whites and dark tan.
The alternative design can be found on Rebrickable, where you’ll also find the instructions which cost just $18, a great price for a great alternative set. Please follow, like and comment on the creators post to show your support, Thank you. Happy Building!
