The latest design to gain the required 10,000 supporters at LEGO Ideas is inspired by one of the most famous artworks ever created, The Scream by Edvard Munch!

From the talented mind of QYOUK, comes a brick-built recreation of The Scream painting. Edvard Munch (1863–1944) was a major Norwegian painter, considered one of the pioneers of Expressionism. His most famous painting is The Scream (Skrik in Norwegian), painted in 1893. From an artistic perspective, this LEGO version becomes an act of interpretation faithful to the spirit of Expressionism. It requires translating distortion through assembly, recreating the undulating movement of the sky and landscape with rigid pieces.

As an iconic painting, I think it would definitely have its place alongside the other LEGO Art pieces! QYOUK

The idea looks amazing and one many would hang proudly on their wall. The basic frame encapsulates the artwork are really let’s it speak, creating depth with its needed and allowing the 3D elements come to life. The Scream character is done well and looks jus like its artwork counterpart, although made from the LEGO, the shape is there and it works extremely well.

Unfortunately reaching the required goal of 10,000 supporters doesn’t guarantee it’ll be made into a real-life LEGO set, but there is hope for fans as the LEGO Ideas team will debate on and choose which sets will be lucky enough to make it through sometime next/this year – we wish QYOUK the best of luck in the next stage.
