Shaun of the Dead is a modern day classic, it’s a zombie filled comedy that stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, what more do you want? That’s right, Minifigures!
Minifigs.me have designed, printed and released a the main characters, Shaun and Ed, in Minifigure form, today we’ll be taking a closer look at them.
If you’ve not seen the movie, the premise is fun. Shaun (Simon Pegg) doesn’t have a very good day, so he decides to turn his life around by getting his ex to take him back, but he times it for right in the middle of what may be a zombie apocalypse. But for him, it’s an opportunity to show everyone he knows how useful he is by saving them all. All he has to do is survive, get his ex back – and wait it out at the Winchester (pub).
The team at Minifigs.me have done a great job in recreating the two characters. Both Minifigures have their own characteristics, including Shaun‘s bandana headband and Ed‘s ‘I Got Wood‘ tshirt. The printing on them both is crisp and covers the whole Minifigure, the head, torso, legs and accessories. We particularly like Shaun‘s bloodied shirt & tie. He even has some blood on one of his faces – in the movie Ed says to Shaun “You’ve got red on you“, whilst pointing at the blood, it’s a subtle joke but it’s pulled off in pure comedic fashion.
Shaun has a record, which he throws at a zombie, and Ed has a cornetto, which is a running joke throughout the Cornetto Trilogy. In three of the films this duo stars in there is one scene where they are munching on a cornetto ice-cream.
