The LEGO May The 4th promotions are almost upon us, here is a better look at one of them, the LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter (30654) polybag!

This year the promotions have been under a lot of scrutiny from the online community. Are LEGO missing a trick this year after such a solid 2022 line up?

Starting off at the lowest price point GWP (gift with purchase), we have the X-wing Starfighter (30654). This simple polybag will be yours with a spend of £35 or more on Star Wars set.

Although it does tie in with this years UCS X-Wing, this isn’t actually a new product. This was released earlier in the year. We got ours from Berlins Discovery Centre during our holiday there!

This is something that has bothered quite a lot of fans, including ourselves, who bought this for just £5. Now LEGO wants us to spend £35 to get it for free? I think a Keychain, simple Minifig or any other polybag would have gone down better.

The build itself isn’t too bad. It’s alot sturdier than the X-Wing Foil bag we got in this month LEGO Magazine but uses similar building techniques. R2-D2 is personified by a single shiny silver stud & the wings are topped off with ski poles. Unlike most of the other X-Wing builds we’ve seen over the years, this one is missing the yellow tile at the front which normally replicates a battle sticker.

With only 87 pieces, this X-Wing is a perfect little display piece for those who care about the ‘OT‘ ships. For those who keep their polybags sealed, this one includes the logo for the 40th anniversary for ROTJ, for those who aren’t getting anything during this promo week, don’t worry, there are plenty of shops online including Brick-a-Brac and eBay where prices will be £5-8.
