Ring, ring… LEGO calling and bringing us some exciting news! The latest LEGO Ideas set has just been revealed and will release very soon! Available from the 1st of February we’ve gotten the first look at the Ideas Red London Telephone Box (21347).

The set will consist of 1.460 pieces (including a light brick) and will cost €/$ 114.99, probably £99.99 in the UK.

The final design stayed rather true to the original fan design by Bricked1980, the phone box looks of course rather similar in a similar scale and there’s the lamppost with flowerpots on a small base. The letterbox was left out but instead we get an elegant fence with a rather funny street sign for ‘Buildmore Road’.

The inside of the phonebox has some more details with either stickers or prints. There’s a classic phone, a Yellow Pages book and advertising for LEGOLand. A final fun feature in this set is that it’s not just a pretty shelf sitter. It’s also designed to serve as a phone stand.

To be honest, we’re quite impressed with the final design for this set. But what do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below or on our social media!

Official details:

Today the LEGO Group unveils the iconic LEGO Ideas Red London Telephone Box set, a classic British symbol, recognised worldwide. Released in the same year that the K2 Telephone Box celebrates its 100th anniversary, the new LEGO set is inspired by the iconic red structure that is a quintessential symbol of London.

The perfect set for display, features an opening door, a light brick in the roof to illuminate the K2 Telephone Box when pushing down the top and a lamppost with flowerpots and a cobbled street, invoking a sense of nostalgia and an enduring connection to a city that seamlessly blends history with modernity.

Designed by John Cramp, from Leicester, England, as part of the LEGO Ideas programme. In a lovely twist that brings the set right up to date, the design also includes a stand for your mobile phone.

Talking about the new set, Michael Smy, Head of Street at BT Group said; “The K2 red phone box is seen as a British cultural icon throughout the world, and we’re delighted that the LEGO Group is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its design with this model.

“Fast-forward to today and whilst communications have rapidly evolved, the iconic K2 continues to play a part in communities through BT’s Adopt a Kiosk scheme. As we continue to build the next generation of communication networks, we’re proud that more than 7,200 phone boxes have already been adopted across the UK, repurposed into mini libraries and life-saving defibrillators, among others.”
