Introduction: 2024 saw some awesome LEGO Ideas sets released and the theme finished strongly with theLEGO Ideas The Botanical Garden (21353). The original idea was submitted by Valentina Bima and it looked similar to a modular building and the MOCs I’ve seen for the smaller Friends Botanical Gardens set. The instructions have a photo of a brick-built model of the original submission. This Botanical Garden isn’t based off any real life versions but instead draws inspiration from them. The set has 3,792 pieces, which at the time of release made it the second largest LEGO Ideas set behind the Home Alone […]

Welcome back to another @Brick_Shed review, sailing in this year with the largest LEGO Star Wars set of 2024 is Jabba’s Sail Barge (75397) at just under 4,000 pieces for a whopping £429.99! The Build: The first thing to say is that the box looks awesome with two smaller boxes inside having pictures of Salacious Crumb and Max Rebo on them to help keep the bags grouped together which really helps with the building process. There are 35 bags (which are all paper) and 2 instruction books. The sails came in separate paper bags to stop them being damaged. There […]

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, LEGO Ideas back in 2022 asked designers to submit an idea for a set. Lucas Bolt won the contest and got to see his design turned into a set. This was one that I was looking forward to seeing LEGO turn make, despite having never played Dungeons & Dragons before. The set was released in April of this year and comes with a whopping 3,745 pieces, which makes it the second biggest LEGO Ideas set, behind the Home Alone house by around 200 pieces. The Build The first thing I should say […]

Michael from the Brick Shed here, back with another review! With the new Despicable Me 4 film out now in Cinemas, LEGO released a small wave of sets to coincide with it. Having seen the movie a couple of weeks ago with my two boys, I was able to recognise some of the sets from the movies. I am sure the Party Bus is featured briefly in the movie, when the Minions are taken to the Anti Villain League HQ and the usual mayhem ensues on route. This set doesn’t quite resemble the film version, but I am hoping in […]

Following on from the Rivendell set last year, we get our second D2C set, this time focusing on the villainous side of Lord of the Rings and the base of Sauron himself, Barad-Dûr. At the time of writing this review it is the largest 2024 set coming in with 5,471 pieces, it will be interesting to see if this ends up being the largest set of 2024, looking at the rumours there is nothing on the horizon to dislodge it from top spot. The build is spread over 40 bags, which I was surprised to see were all paper. There […]

I am not the biggest fan of the classic Disney films, I much prefer the more recent films such as Moana and Zootropolis. But when the Snow White Cottage was announced  I really loved the look of it and decided this was a set I had to get! Before building it I decided to watch the film with my two boys, which they’ve never seen before and I hadn’t seen for probably 30 years. We all loved it and I think we’ll be revisiting other classic Disney films. The Build There are 2,208 pieces and the set is split into […]

Back in January I left Club 30’s and joined the 40+ club which entitled me to a free NHS check-up. One of the other perks was what I would like for my 40th Birthday. I was fortunate enough to receive some money, so I decided to put it towards a trip to Billund and go see the LEGO House. I also decided to drag my long-suffering Wife along for the fun of it! The first thing I looked into was flights to Billund, I quickly found out that only British Airways and Ryanair fly direct to Billund. BA operate a single […]

Castle fans continue to be spoiled with sets like the Lion Knights Castle from 2022, the various Castle sets within the Bricklink Designer Program and most recently and today’s review Medieval Town Square (10332)! The set is a reimagined version of the classic Medieval Market from 2009. The name of the village is Felsa and it encapsulates everything you’d expect from a medieval town, including a tavern, a watch tower and workshops. The set itself is divided into two buildings, the first one has three sections and combines a Stone Mason, Cheese Maker and a Weavers workshop. The second is a tavern […]

Michael, a.k.a Brick_Shed, here with a review of the LEGO Ideas Viking Village (21343). Join me over on Instagram for weekly builds and tours of LEGO my Shed! Introduction: The Viking Village was released back in October 2023. 80s/90s LEGO fans have been lucky in recent years with Castle, Pirates and Space sets all having classic sets released and it’s great that we see Vikings getting in on the act too. Interesting Florian (the fan designer) was not inspired by the classic Viking sets but by University reading. The set has an interesting journey to becoming a set as it reached […]

The A-Frame Cabin (21338) is the first 2023 LEGO Ideas set. It is based on an idea by Andrea Lattazino from Italy, throughout the build there are a couple of great references to the Italian flag. The set retails for £159.99 and has 2,082 pieces and comes with 4 unique Minifigures. There are two instruction booklets. I have found that since changing the instructions to a standard white design, they can look a bit boring. This is not the case with this set which has two excellent illustrations of the A-Frame Cabin. The Build: I found this to be a […]
