One of the latest designs to gain the required 10,000 supporters at LEGO Ideas is based on the 1996 movie Twister!
The design and build is by Blocksmiths, it features the two main characters, Bill Harding and Dr. Jo Harding, as Minifigures, along with the red pickup truck, a water tower, and a rotating brick-built twister. It’s a combination of display piece and interactive set, made for fans of the mid 90s movie Twister, for those unfamiliar with the now iconic film, it follows a team of daredevil storm chasers in Oklahoma trying to deploy “Dorothy“—an innovative data-gathering device designed to revolutionize early tornado warning systems. They must race against rival corporately-funded scientists to be the first.
This set captures the adrenaline, chaos, and heroism of Bill and Jo Harding as they confront one of nature’s most powerful forces—a massive tornado tearing through Oklahoma’s Tornado Alley. – Blocksmiths

This dynamic scene brings the movie’s most iconic moments to life. At the center is a powerful, rotating tornado, constructed with cleverly engineered LEGO gear functions that allow it to spin—just like the real thing! The set includes key movie landmarks such as the recognizable water tower and the advanced tornado research device, Dorothy, faithfully recreated in LEGO form. Debris flies through the air, including the unforgettable flying cow, a fun nod to one of the film’s most memorable scenes. Bill’s rugged red pickup truck is equipped to handle the rough terrain and daring chases, and the detailed minifigures of Bill and Jo capture their fearless spirit.
The idea looks great and one many LEGO fans would like to get their hands on, it’s the perfect display piece. I think the overall look is fantastic and brings something very different to the LEGO Ideas table, a display centric design.
Unfortunately reaching the required goal of 10,000 supporters doesn’t guarantee it’ll be made into a real-life LEGO set, but there is hope for fans as the LEGO Ideas team will debate on and choose which sets will be lucky enough to make it through sometime next/this year – we wish Blocksmiths the best of luck in the next stage.
