The latest design to make it through to the next LEGO Ideas review stage gives a modern classic sci-fi movie, The Fifth Element, a LEGO brick makeover!
From the talented mind of MarinBrickDesign, comes a brick-built recreation of a futuristic flying yellow Taxi Cab. If you’re unfamiliar with the movie it follows cabdriver Korben Dallas, who unwittingly becomes the central figure in the search for a legendary cosmic weapon to keep the great evil and Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg at bay. It released back in 1997, but instantly become a cult classic, with stunning yet humorous performances by Bruce Willis, Chris Tucker, Gary Oldman, Milla Jovovich, and other stars.

Being a fan of science fiction, I loved this film, especially this famous chase scene in the streets of New York in a futuristic version. Plus, I love the mix of retro taxi and flying car. I had a lot of fun reproducing the curves and shapes of this vehicle with LEGO pieces.
The idea focuses on the curvy floating Taxi Cab driven by Bruce Willis’ character, as soon as fans of the movie see it they instantly know. It is the perfect mix of nostalgia and future, marking an entire generation and taking its place in the collection of emblematic movie vehicles. Included in the idea are Minifigures of Leeloo and Korben Dallas. The roof of the Taxi Cab can be detached to reveal a detailed interior that includes all the equipment seen in the film. The base will allow you to showcase this model just above the Minifigures and the unrivaled “Multipass”!
Unfortunately reaching the required goal of 10,000 supporters doesn’t guarantee it’ll be made into a real-life LEGO set, but there is hope for fans as the LEGO Ideas team will debate on and choose which sets will be lucky enough to make it through sometime next/this year – we wish MarinBrickDesign the best of luck in the next stage.
