A bit later than our usual schedule it’s time for a Halloween special LEGO Ideas Feature. This week’s project is ‘Mr. Mushnik’s Flower Shop by Ashley (poison_bricks)’.  Based on the 1982 musical and 1986 movie adaptation ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. The project is a collaboration between River (snommmmm) and Ashley (poison_bricks).

I built the bulk of the exterior and interior, but River assisted with details such as the dentist’s interior and the table in the flower shop. River also designed all of the printed parts that you see in the set, such as the ‘This Is Audrey II’ sign, Orin Scrivello’s shrine to his mother hidden away in the dentist office cabinet, and the bucket of Audrey II’s favourite food… tomato sauce!

The building features some elegant detailing and a nice colour scheme. Looking at the pictures it does seem it will fit very well in a street with other sets like the Creator 3-in-1 buildings.

The ground floor features the actual flower shop. It has a nice interior with a variety of plant pieces giving it the right atmosphere for a florist.

The top floor features Orin Scrivello’s dentist office. It’s detailed with the nicely designed chair. This adds an extra significant scene from the movie into this idea.

The proposed minifigures are Seymour, Audrey, Orin Scrivello and Mr. Mushnik. This is a great choice and ties the set nicely together with storylines from ‘Little Shop of Horrors’.

Highlight of this idea for me is the brick built Audrey II. There’s 2 alternative versions in this idea which I think is a great creative feature:

Audrey II is a small, but surprisingly complicated build, making use of many new pieces to pull off some interesting angling and stud reversal. River designed an alternate build, more akin to how Audrey II appears in the director’s cut ending of the film, with vines for ‘legs’ as opposed to sitting in its pot.

We would like to wish River and Ashley the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. If you like the look of this idea and would like to give your support, please use the links below. Registration is free to LEGO Ideas and only takes a minute, so head over there now and do your part!
