There’s a lot of nostalgia among AFOLs for classic (and discontinued) LEGO themes. One of these beloved themes is Adventurers. The theme ran from 1998-2003 and produced quite a few iconic sets. In recent years the theme was referenced in a CMF figure, the Icons ‘Haunted House’ set (10273) and most recently the Ideas ‘Orient-Express Train’ (21344). Other themes like Space, Pirates and Castle got new versions, but an ultimate 18+ Adventurers set has yet to emerge.

This should change if Krackenator4 is succesful with this project. We shared a previous project (Roman Forum) by this designer last year, but this entry might just be even better! The designer has really pulled out all the stops for the Ultimate Ultimate Adventurers revisit.

Rumor has it that Baron Von Barron and his wicked henchman Sam Sinister have returned to Egypt in hopes of stealing more treasure! According to legend, somewhere along the Nile is a Temple that holds a golden staff and red ruby. And when combined, unlock mysterious powers! Of course Baron Von Barron cannot be allowed to have such power! And thus it is up to Johnny Thunder with the help of Dr. Kilroy, Pippin Reed, and Harry Cane to get to the temple first before before these villians have a chance to get the staff, ruby, and other treasure!

The designer has really pulled out all the stops for this one. The temple is beautifully designed, is very detailed with 7 rooms and consists of approximately 3000 pieces. And next to the temple there’s also a plane and truck included to have a perfect combination of playset and display piece.

This model is utilizes the design of the real life Temple of Edfu (Horus) in combination with features from the original Adventurers set ‘Pharaoh’s Forbidden Ruins (5988)’.

So that’s already a very promising start, now let’s take a closer look on the inside of the model: The colour scheme is rather elegant with dark orange and dark blue accents in the pillars. The rooms included are:

  • Scroll Room
  • Treasure Room
  • Trap Floor Room
  • Crocodile Room
  • Staff Room
  • Pharaoh’s Chamber
  • Skeleton Chamber

The picture below gives a nice overview of where each room is situated. Each room has some decoration on the walls and could provide fans of ancient history with some very nice prints.

The design like submitted contains 8 minifiguress including the skeleton. Since LEGO has changed it’s policy on minifigures since Adventurers was around, it’s a bit of a missed opportunity there are no new characters brought into the story. LEGO will no doubt want to get the 50/50 divide between male and female characters so the Ideas submission could have taken this into account.

It is however a slight detail that LEGO will no doubt get to if this set is being considered for commercial release.

We would like to wish Krackenator4 the best of luck in gaining the required 10k support. If you like the look of this idea and would like to give your support, please use the links below. Registration is free to LEGO Ideas and only takes a minute, so head over there now and do your part!
