LEGO and Indiana Jones first teamed up way back in 2008, with a whopping 11 sets, then again a year later with 7. Here in 2023 LEGO have graced us with 3 more wonderful sets that hark back to those released back in the day. Making a grand total 21 sets produced, this doesn’t include the exclusive comic-con set, polybags, games and other LEGO products.

Here are my Top 10 Indiana Jones LEGO sets from the past 15 years. I’ve decided to keep them in order of release date as they’re all great sets, it’s hard to choose just one, although at the end I’ll list my personal favourite. Don’t forget to list your most beloved LEGO Indiana Jones set in the comment below.

Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase (7620):

  • Released: 1st January 2008
  • Retired: 31st July 2009
  • Pieces: 79
  • Minifigures: 3
  • RRP: $9.99, £8.79

Temple Escape (7623):

  • Released: 1st January 2008
  • Retired: 31st December 2009
  • Pieces: 554
  • Minifigures: 3
  • RRP: $59.99, £46.99

In the first batch of Indy sets LEGO recreated the Temple Escape scene, with its booby-traps, tumbling boulder and golden Idol treasure. The set included 3 Minifigures and a bunch of cool playability features, a perfect opening to the line of Indiana Jones sets.

River Chase (7625):

  • Released: 1st May 2008
  • Retired: 31st July 2009
  • Pieces: 234
  • Minifigures: 4
  • RRP: $19.99, £18.59

This set featured a sea-to-land vehicle, what more do I need to say? This was definitely a cool set which not only gave us a cool vehicle but also 4 Minifigures, a dingy and an outpost sidebuild.

Peril in Peru (7628):

  • Released: 1st July 2008
  • Retired: 31st December 2009
  • Pieces: 625
  • Minifigures: 6
  • RRP: $49.99, £41.09

If you can look past Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as a movie then this set is great, unlike the film. The LEGO plane is built in Minifigure-scale which is great as it can be used in other scenarios such as Cities and MOCs. This reasonably priced set also packing in 6 Minifigures and a bunch of other smaller vehicles, the Jeep especially looks the business.

Chauchilla Cemetery Battle (7196):

  • Released: 1st June 2009
  • Retired: 31st July 2010
  • Pieces: 187
  • Minifigures: 5 (1 Skeleton)
  • RRP: $19.99, £18.99

Again taken from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull movie, this set is a smaller diorama of one of the scenes, what was cool about this set is the size and cost, coming in at the lower end of LEGO prices but also packing in so much was great, with 5 Minifigures and a Motorcycle, amazing!

Shanghai Chase (7682):

  • Released: 1st January 2009
  • Retired: 31st December 2009
  • Pieces: 244
  • Minifigures: 5
  • RRP: $29.99, £26.45

Going back the original movies now with this set, we have two awesome classic vehicles and 5 amazing Minifigures With great looking prints. I wish I had the chance to pick this one up back in the day, it would have looked cool sat on display.

Fighter Plane Attack (7198):

  • Released: 1st June 2009
  • Retired: 31st July 2010
  • Pieces: 384
  • Minifigures: 3
  • RRP: $49.99, £47.99

Offering something different, we have 2 Planes, a bi-plane and a fighter plane. I love LEGO planes so this one really hits home with me personally. I think it’s the shape and general look of them that captives me, also we hardly ever get planes like this these days.

The Temple of Doom (7199):

  • Released: 1st January 2009
  • Retired: 31st December 2009
  • Pieces: 652
  • Minifigures: 6
  • RRP: $89.99, £74.99

A slightly larger set now and one that takes inspiration from The Temple of Doom movie. The mineshaft scene was so much fun to watch and here you can recreate it. 6 Minifigures, 3 of which are bad guys, are included and help set the scene perfectly.

Ambush In Cairo (7195):

  • Released: 1st June 2009
  • Retired: 31st July 2010
  • Pieces: 79
  • Minifigures: 4
  • RRP: $10.99, £9.99

Perhaps one of the cheapest LEGO Indiana Jones sets to be released, apart from Polybags and Keyrings of course, is this one, perfect for introducing fans to LEGO. With 4 Minifigures and smaller sidebuilds, this £9.99 set was awesome.

Temple of the Golden Idol (77015):

  • Released: 14th March 2023
  • Retired: –
  • Pieces: 1545
  • Minifigures: 4
  • RRP: $149.99, £129.99

Stepping into the present now with one of the coolest LEGO Indiana Jones sets ever created, the Temple of the Golden Idol. The size, the Minifigures, the playability and overall look and  display possibilities of this set is top notch and one I will have to pickup soon!

From a list of 21 official LEGO sets, we have managed to whittle them down to the top ten. Each of the above entries have something unique to offer the franchise, rather than rehashing an older set. We’ve seen cool vehicles, stunning sidebuilds and amazing characters, all built out of the humble LEGO brick!

Which one would you crown your number one LEGO Indiana Jones set of all time? Let us know below in the comment. For us it would have to be one of the newer outings for Indy, the Fighter Plane Chase (77012), having recently bought, built and reviewed this set we have to say it’s a great little build filled again with unique vehicles, one of which we’ve not seen in LEGO form.

  1. “Wow, what an incredibly comprehensive and nostalgic list of Indiana Jones sets! As a lifelong fan of the series, it’s remarkable to see how LEGO has captured the essence of each iconic adventure. The attention to detail and the inclusion of key characters like Indy himself, Marion, and even Short Round, truly bring these sets to life. I especially love how they’ve recreated memorable scenes like the Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade. Kudos to the author for taking the time to curate such a fantastic collection. Thank you for taking me on this wonderful trip down memory lane! Warm regards, Martin Williamson.”
