Animated shows (much like LEGO) are something that can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter your age. Although I was in my late teens back when The Powepuff Girls was at it’s most popular. It was still a show I’d watched quite a few episodes of and enjoyed.

So when I saw that the LEGO sets based on the rebooted version of the show were on clearance on the official LEGO website. I snapped up both of the sets that were released.
Today I’m taking a look at the bigger of the 2 sets. Set no.  41288 Mojo Jojo strikes.
This set was originally released in 2018 and has a piece count of 228. It’s recommended age range is 6-12 which makes sense given the source material. So let’s take a look…
The box is bright and colourful and features artwork from the show as well as the usual photos of the included minifigs and build.
2 numbered bags, instructions, and a sticker sheet are contained within. The colourful nature of this set continues on to the actual minifigs and parts.

We have 3 characters included in the first bag, Buttercup comes on her green skateboard. We have a simple brick built robot who is holding some dynamite, and lastly Mojo Jojo. My favourite villain from the show, he has a purple cap and the top of his head is a separate printed dome piece.

Buttercup and Mojo both have uniquely sculpted heads that are unlike traditional minifig heads. They remind me of the Simpsons minifigs from a few years back but here, they are they are even more oversized.
This bigger size, allows them to look pretty much exactly as they do in the show. This was a smart move on the part of the designers and really makes these minifigs feel like something different. Both of the characters have the short, fixed legs.
The first build is this small vehicle for Mojo Jojo to drive around in. It’s a small and simple red roadster that’s just 4 studs wide and even smaller than any of the CITY cars.
There is a banana in the back and a clip brick on either side that holds a radio piece on the left, and a stud shooter on the right. The first sticker is used on the bonnet and features an outline of Mojo’s distinctive head.
Because of the non-bending shorter legs used on these minifigs, Mojo simply stands in the seat to drive his car. A bit awkward with his cape but it works.

There are 2 small shops (more like shop fronts) included in this set. The first of which is the ice cream/treats building.

Built mainly in white with some yellow and pink detailing. This small frozen treat stand comes with ice creams, cupcakes and a small catapult for play. There is a very nice brick built ice cream cone on the left and the cute sign is a sticker on a pink 2×4 tile.

‘Inside’ the storefront is a cash register and an included bank note. There is barely enough room to stand a minifig behind the counter.

On the side of the shop is the play feature of this build. A small catapult that can be used to fling a cupcake after placing it into the bucket piece.

Bag 2 contains the second shop front which is a jewellery store. This small building has a corner entrance (complete with a no Mojo sticker!) A small awning over a window and a security camera watching the door.

A small stickered sign featuring a diamond completes the corner. The full length window has a diamond on display.

The small interior is pretty empty. There is another jewel on display and another sticker, warning to be on the look out for Mojo. The yellow technic lever is a play feature that you can use to pop out the front window, allowing the villain to steal the diamond.

There is some nice colour pieces and elements used in this, but it would have been to have just had one building in the set and made it a little more substantial.

Lastly we get 2 more of the characters in this bag. The second of the Powerpuff girls is Blossom.  Again, we get the fantastically detailed unique head piece, she also comes with a unique printed phone tile, and a pair of roller skates in gold.

There is also a brick built version  of Donny the unicorn. Built up in a similar way to the Unikitty figs. This is a nice addition and brings the total number of characters in this set to 5. That’s a lot of play value.

So all in all a fantastic set. The only other way to get the Powerpuff minifigures is in the Lego Dinensions packs, and with the current discounted price of these sets, this method was much better value and also gives me my favourite villain from the show. My youngest daughter aided me in this build and she absolutely loves this set. It definitely hits all the mark for it’s target audience.
