I’m relatively new to the LEGO Harry Potter World only ever picking up small sets for the odd Minifigure here & there. That all changed when Mrs Brick Post finally sat down to watch the entire saga, which took about a week to get through, including the newer Fantastic Beasts movies. Since then she has watched them countless times and bought many items of memorabilia, including LEGO!

To start of small she went for the set we are reviewing for you today, LEGO Harry Potter Professors of Hogwarts BrickHeadz (40560). If you’re an avid fan of the website and our social media channels you’ll know that I don’t really do BrickHeadz, although I do have a couple on display (The Mandalorian and myself in LEGO form), It’s not that I don’t like them, far from it, it’s the fact that it’s another theme to get into and I rather not get tied down to collecting them all. I simply pickup the ones that tickle my fancy, in this case the Professors of Hogwarts set looks great and will fit right in with my better half’s collection.

Whilst building I was of course chief supervisor, being the more veteran LEGO builder out of the two, I over saw the whole operation and never once went on my phone to watch Netflix or YouTube, honest… OK Mrs Brick Post may have built them all, maybe she should write the review?

The Box & Contents:

Starting with the box design it follows suit with other BrickHeadz and has a relatively plain background, with a spotlight effect shining on the characters. The LEGO Harry Potter boxes, especially BrickHeadz, have a mottled, almost smokey, background which I think works really well.

Flip the box around and there’s not much else to look at, the characters are in a different order.

Inside the box you’ll find four numbered bags and four instruction manuals, this allows you to build whichever is your favourite character first, or let friends or members of the family get in on the act.

Thankfully there aren’t any stickers included and all the pieces are printed, including the tiles that represent robes and clothes, accessories, and eyes.

The Build:

Having the choice of which character to build first Mrs Brick Post went with Professor Snape, one of the most popular Hogwarts Professors. The others in the pack include Professors Mcgonagall, Trelawny, and Moody. I personally would have chosen Mad-eye Moody if I were allowed to build one, he was one of my favourite characters.

Dressed in black robes with a streak of purple for his shirt, the Professor Snape BrickHeadz most certainly captures the look and feel of the character it portrays. As with every other BrickHeadz figure it uses roughly the same construction pattern including the pink 2×2 brick to represent the brain.

As always the pieces are printed and even though the torso tile is basic in design is really does go well with its onscreen counterpart. Being a potions teacher the figure is holding a vial filled with purple liquid, in the other hand you’ll find a wand.

Trelawny is another cool Professor, she teaches Divination, her BrickHeadz figure is holding a teacup as she often reads tea leaves found at the bottom on a cup to predict future events. In her other hand is her wand.

The printed torso tile looks so good with the necklace and shirt texture details in full view. What really sold this particular figure to me was the glasses and how they did them, clipped into the side of the head and then swiveled in place, the final product looks good!

Mad-eye Moody is an unusual character but that just makes him more likeable, he doesn’t take anything from anyone and speaks his mind. Building him in LEGO form was great, especially the hair with all its curves and rough angles really make it look natural, well as natural as LEGO can be.

The printed torso tile is one of the best in the set and could be used for other custom characters pretty easily. The buckles and straps look cool although lacking in depth by not including shadows does make the image look rather flat. One of the last pieces you pop on is his false eye which is a tad oversized but really does look the part!

He again has a wand in one hand and a walking stick/staff in the other.

McGonagall is a staple at Hogwarts and a Professor that has been through a lot, the character is great and is a mentor for all the kids not just Harry Potter and friends.

The two printed robe tiles look fab and the green they’re on is a nice, bright shade. The design is very reminiscent of Scotland and would make sense as the character is from there, presumably.

A gold ring piece is used for the necklace and it works so well, I don’t have many of these rings elements in my collection so the spare you get in the set is very welcomed. The gold feather ls attached to the hat at also a nice touch and finish the BrickHeadz off!

The Conclusion:

Being the first of many LEGO Harry Potter sets that I’ll undoubtedly dip my toe into I must say I was very pleasantly surprised, also being BrickHeadz I found myself liking maybe more than I thought I would.

Each Hogwarts Professor has their unique prints, parts and accessories which helps somewhat of you are unfamiliar with the franchise.

I’ve built a few BrickHeadz in my time and they’re all pretty much the same building experience, from the pink 2×2 bricks as brains to the bases they stand on.

If youre a Harry Potter fan then these are a must get and at £39.99 you really can go wrong. Me and Mrs Brick Post highly recommended them!
