As many early reviews and photos have shown, LEGO have rolled out new building instruction cover designs.

Many of the upcoming new Summer 2022 sets will have the new ad somewhat boring plain white covers. To explain this change, LEGO have released an official statement regarding it.

The gist of it is that they want a more “visually consistent unboxing experience“.

Official statement:

The LEGO Group is on a journey to make its packaging more sustainable by 2025. As we are gradually replacing single-use plastic bags with paper-based bags in our boxes, other in-box materials such as the cover of Building Instructions have also been re-designed for a visually consistent unboxing experience.
