Lara Croft, a.k.a Tomb Raider, is a set LEGO have yet to do, with their many 18+ Adult sets you would have thought it was a no brainer to make. Many fans of gaming started their obsession with the one and only Tomb Raider franchise, it was certainly on my list of top games during the 90s!
With the many sequels, remakes, new games, and of course the movies, it’s a very popular IP. When I see anything related to the franchise I immediately stop and look, so when I stumbled upon a LEGO MOC, I just had to share it. The build by MOC_Lobster gives us many of the iconic poses seen throughout the series, most notably the one seen in Tomb Raider I. This brick representation of our favourite adventurer is made up of 613 parts, each of which are used to great effect. Such as the gun that using an open clip element for the sights, the inverted 1×1 gold stud for the belt buckle, and the jumper plate for her belly button.
MOC_Lobster has done an impressive job in not only capturing the look of Lara Croft, but also the environment around her. Ever the action heroine, she is always in a tough situation, here she is holding onto a branch for dear life whilst simultaneously shooting a gun. The rocky element of the MOC looks great, with sharp edges, foliage, and buried artifacts – when I dabble in the odd build I really struggle to make it look natural, MOC_Lobster has nailed it here.
Being a MOC, my own creation, the parts will need to be sourced. Rebrickable is your friend here as it not only compiles the pieces needed but also takes you to the relevant store(s) on BrickLink/BrickOwl. This is where you’ll also find the instructions which cost a very reasonable £10. It’s a quality design that will sit amongst displays with ease and be the centrepiece – every Tomb Raider fan should have one of these.
This classic Lara Croft buildable figure is inspired by the original games and is extremely poseable, but is not intended to be played with like an action figure. Position her as you’d like and then let her be, standing proud and being badass!
