When it comes to choosing a product idea to feature on the website we usually go for something a little different, creative, interesting, and fun, I’d say this weeks pick is all of them combined with the added bonus that it’s playable!

BattLEGO is another awesome project by our good friend CabbageFaceBricks.

The idea is based on the two player strategy game Battleship, which started lift as a pad-and-pencil game, later being developed into the game we’ve all heard of today by Milton Bradley in 1967, it has even spawned a blockbuster movie.

Aaron (CabbageFaceBricks) has given the classic game a fun LEGO twist that pits two of the most popular themes against one-another, LEGO Space and LEGO Pirates.

As you can see from the render above it has a lot of details but yet Aaron has managed to keep the parts down to just 277, making it perfect for a small to medium sized set.

Some of the details we can find inside are related to each of the two themes, Pirates have Pirate ships, a ships (steering) wheel, a starfish, maps, and sparkly gold pieces of treasure. The Space side of the board has Space ships, controls panels and the colour classic Blue & Yellow colour scheme.

The inclusion of letter and number tiles is a must as that is the whole premise of the game, shouting out coordinates to try and hit your opponents ship and ultimately sink it. The tiles run along the left side and the top, making a perfect grid system for lining up your next shot!

A5? – you hit my spaceship!

There is something very exciting that grabs my eye here as a collector and that are the two Minifigures, well one in particular, the Sand Green Spaceman. If/When LEGO produce this product idea I do hope they’ll keep Aaron’s Minifigure choice as adding a new Spaceman to the collection is always a good thing, especially if it’s one of my favourite LEGO colours, Sand Green

Not only is it an incredible idea it also collapses into a very handy little box that can slip into your bag, perfect for gaming on the go. Each side lifts up and somehow attaches to the top, tuck away the rigging and any other stuck out bits into the ‘hull’ of the game itself, leaving only the Minifigures exposed.

I personally would love to see this made by LEGO and produced into an official set, I’d be first in line to purchase it!

We would like to wish Aaron the best of luck with promoting and gaining the required 10k supporters, we know how tough it can be and is a job in itself to do.
