The latest design to gain the required 10,000 supporters at LEGO Ideas is based on a classic horror/fantasy movie from 1988, Beetlejuice!
From the talented mind of BrickBuiltLabs, comes a brick-built recreation of the iconic Maitland House and it’s residents, both living and not. For those that haven’t seen the movie, it revolves around the spirits of a deceased couple who are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, and hire a malicious spirit to drive them out. Beetlejuice is known for helping recently deceased spirits deal with the living by saying his name three times to summon him, but he’s actually a malicious trickster with a grim backstory as a grave robber.

Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice is returning to the big screen in a new sequel, and now is the perfect time for the return of Beetlejuice to LEGO! – BrickBuiltLabs
The idea focuses on the house which has been designed with a modular layout at heart, it can be divided into floors to gain access to the interiors. The traditional white-wood architecture with and grey trim looks fantastic and would effortlessly slot into any fans display. With the set’s exciting play features, you can act out scenes from the movie in LEGO form – the dinner party scene, Maitland’s trip to the Netherworld waiting room, the climatic ending, and more! The attic features a chimney door, chute, and light brick with an eerie green light. Minifigures include, Adam and Barbara Maitland (with alternate exorcism faces), Charles, Delia, and Lydia Deetz, Otho, Miss Argentina and the Magician’s Assistant from the Netherworld Waiting Room.
Unfortunately reaching the required goal of 10,000 supporters doesn’t guarantee it’ll be made into a real-life LEGO set, but there is hope for fans as the LEGO Ideas team will debate on and choose which sets will be lucky enough to make it through sometime next/this year – we wish BrickBuiltLabs the best of luck in the next stage.
