The LEGO Star Trek U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-D (10356) has proven extremely popular, with the set selling out online worldwide within 24hrs. Fans have wanted an official LEGO Star Trek set for years and it has final arrived, but with a price tag of £349.99/$399.99, it is out of reach from a lot of die-hard collectors. That is until SkyFoxBricks came along with their Midi-scale MOC (my own creation) of the iconic ship!
Taking inspiration from the larger LEGO one, it’s features a lot of similarities, from the base and shake to the detachable saucer section and even a Midi Shuttlepod, which was a gift with purchase set free with the larger one when it first released.

Looking at the images we can see just how good it looks, with the iconic shape still very much intact. The thrusters, sorry I’m not a Trekkie and have no idea if that’s what you calm them, have the Azure Blue colour running through them along with a transparent red tip, creating a cool finishing effect.
The characters are all present and correct, but in a midi-form. Made from single coloured studs layered to represent the legs, torsos, heads and hair. You can immediately tell who is who, which I think is an awesome addition to the scaled-down build.
Many features have been kept, including:
- Detachable saucer section, so you can recreate TNG’s most dramatic moments.
- Secondary hull, tackle the toughest enemies with a split attack.
- Fully accessible bridge playset, with the entire crew on board: Jean-Luc Picard,
- William Riker, Deanna Troi, Geordi LaForge, Dr. Beverly Crusher, Lt. Worf, Wesley Crusher …and Guinan, because no Enterprise is complete without her wisdom and a drink in hand. I’ve even included Stud…I mean ‘Spot’ the cat.
- Reinforced structure, designed to be strong enough for display and play. The extra front weight does mean it leans forward ever so slightly on it’s axle connection, but it’s fully sturdy.
- Shuttlepod with Ro Laren, with opening doors and space inside for 1 or 2 crew, accurate shaping and incredible swooshable
In total the Midi LEGO Star Trek U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-D and Shuttlepod comprises of 1,062 pieces, which you can conveniently acquire through the Rebrickable BrickLink/BrickOwl feature. You’ll also find the instructions there too for just $10, a really respectable price for the work that’s gone into the whole build.
Thank you to SkyFoxBricks for designing and building a more affordable version of one of the most recognisable ships in television history. Check out the images below and share your thoughts in the comments section. Please support hthe creator by purchasing the instructions via Rebrickable.
