The legend that is Sir David Attenborough has turned 100 years old today, a massive happy birthday to you sir, please ignore the 4-99 age rating in some LEGO sets!
Speaking of LEGO, the team over at Minifigs.me have produced a fitting tribute to the man himself. Kitted out in his usual light blue shirt and khaki trousers, Sir David Attenborough in Minifigure form looks the bees-knees – all six of them.
Born 8 May 1926, the younger brother of actor Lord Richard Attenborough. Sir David Attenborough never expressed a wish to act and, instead, studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, graduating in 1947, the year he began his two years National Service in the Royal Navy. In 1952, he joined BBC Television at Alexandra Palace and, in 1954, began his famous “Zoo Quest” series. When not “Zoo Questing“, he presented political broadcasts, archaeological quizzes, short stories, gardening and religious programmes. His career spans many decades and covers a lot of subjects, he is most known for his wildlife documentaries and his soft, comforting voice.

Minifigs.me have designed and printed their take on Sir David, capturing his likeness with amazing detail, I particularly like the pair of glasses sticking out of his shirt pocket and the tiny bug hitching a ride. The fully printed head, torso and legs, the Minifigure looks great, combine that with the small brick-built landscape (sold separately), and you have a tribute worthy of collecting and displaying.
