Cast your memory back to 2021 when the LEGO Group revealed plans to start producing bricks made from recycled plastic bottles, this was just one of the steps LEGO had planned for their greener future.

Today however, the plan has been scraped according to the Financial Times. As due to the process of turning the recycled plastic bottles into LEGO pieces was causing far greater amounts of carbon emissions than predicted. It’s a shame this route has proven to be a dead-end, the LEGO Group will focus more on the elements made from plant-based plastics, along with their reduced packaging sizes and paper bags.
