LEGO has teased a Donkey Kong inspired set that will be ‘rolling’ into stores soon!
Donkey Kong is one of Nintendo‘s oldest and most iconic video game franchises, created by Shigeru Miyamoto in 1981. The titular character is a large, powerful gorilla known for his signature red necktie. He stars in side-scrolling platformers and spin-offs, and is a staple in the Super Mario universe.
In the short video released by LEGO and Nintendo, we see a series of brick-built barrels rolling past the screen, just like the ones seen in the original video game. The words ‘Rolling Soon‘ and the LEGO Donkey Kong logo are slowly faded in and out. LEGO will be adding to the Nintendo lineup with a brick-built offering, but what exactly that will look like is anyone’s guess. For me personally I would absolutely a buildable figure in the same scale as the Mario & Luigi Kart characters and the Mighty Bowser. What would you like to see from the announcement?
A rumour surfaced back in March about a potential Mario-themed arcade machine set, could this idea have been refocused and now a dedicated Donkey Kong version instead? It is currently unconfirmed but the set number is 72051 is said to include 1,367 pieces.
