It seems an age has past since our last Minifigure Monday, but we are happy to announce it’s return with a weekly post showcasing a random Minifigure chosen by myself and partner in crime Mark from @the.brickloft. To kick off the new season of #MinifigureMonday, Gizmo seemed a worthy choice!
The unique and rare Minifigure has only appeared in one LEGO set, the Dimensions Gremlins Team Pack (71256) from 2016. In the game-themed bundle you’d have found two minibuilds and two Minifigure characters, Stripe and of course Gizmo.
If you’re unfamiliar with Gremlins, it is about Gizmo, an adorable and kind Mogwai who is the pet of Billy Peltzer. After receiving the exotic small animal as a Christmas gift, Billy inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet, which unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous creatures on a small town.
Thanks to the LEGO Dimensions line of sets several movies and other themes were given the chance to thrive and showcase their popularity by many LEGO fans, me included. Having snapped up numerous sets myself, including Gizmo, Doctor Who, Portal, and many others, it was a great way to obtain Minifigures that would unlikely see the light of day in a dedicated LEGO set – heck, there wasn’t even a Minifigure in the buildable LEGO Gizmo (21361) set.
