Here at The Brick Post we love a good hashtag activity to get stuck into, the latest one is by a good friend of ours, David from @totallybricktastic. He is a big LEGO and alternative brick fan and produces awesome review content. He started a new hashtag to take part in where you share a set or MOC from your past that brings back great memories or experiences of!

We love things like this and have taken part in the past, remembering the time I picked up my very first LEGO Modular set, Assembly Square, building the LEGO Mighty Bowser, riding the LEGO Battle Bus again and building the LEGO Tallneck from Horizon Zero Dawn.

This Weekends Windback is how my LEGO & brick obsession started. Every weekend we would go and visit my Nan, like most grandparents they had a stash of toys, mostly old and broken, but there was one I would rush to get first – the red tub of LEGO. Just thinking of the red tub brings back amazing memories, all the crazy, probably rubbish things, I built using the random bricks, plates and pieces. I would try to make Aeroplanes, Cars and other movable contraptions, I even attempted a UFO once.

After finishing my builds each week I would sit and look at them and think “man this is so cool, I’ll never take this apart“, however my youngest Sister had other ideas and would grab it and smash it to pieces. At the time is was soul destroying to see my many hours of hard work ruined in a split second, but looking back I now know it’s what you’re supposed to do, LEGO can be rebuilt over & over again.

Unfortunately my Nan is no longer with us, and the red rub disappeared shortly after, perhaps another family member wanted or needed it more than I did. Hopefully it went to a good home where the next generation could play with and enjoy it.

If you would like to share your past experiences with David, please feel free to post your memorable set, MOC other other brick related story on Instagram, tagging @totallybricktastic and using #WeekendWindback.
