The world of LEGO is a marvelous thing, the many sets, Minifigures, and MOCs currently out there is astonishing, it grows by the day. Today we’ll be diving into the miniature scene, focusing on Brick_olo and their awesome collection of scaled down sets. As Stranger Things is kind of a big deal at the moment, this feature is inspired by The Creel House and accompanying gift with purchase set (WSQK Radio Station), but tiny versions of them!

Brick_olo is a maker of all things small, he also has many designs listed on the LEGO Ideas platform, along with entering countless build challenges. Here’s a little more about him – Marco was born in the province of Vicenza, Italy, in 1989. His passion for LEGO began in childhood and was rekindled over time thanks to two key moments: receiving the Volkswagen T1 Creator set in 2016 and connecting online with a community of enthusiasts through YouTube videos, podcasts, and Facebook groups. The journey led him to rediscover old sets that he had taken apart and stored away years earlier.

In September 2021, after visiting Model Expo Verona, Marco began rebuilding vintage sets by recovering their instructions online and, at the same time, started using Stud.io, which fully opened the door to digital design. It was during this period that he discovered Microscale, a building language that immediately fascinated him for its ability to tell a story using very few elements.
Since November 2021, Marco has been sharing him wonderful creations on Instagram through the Brick_olo project, mainly building on a 6×8 stud base and focusing on themes that have inspired him over the years and continue to do so, from pop culture to music and TV. Initially, Marco‘s microscale builds existed only in digital form, but since 2023 he started building them physically and sharing the building instructions online. In recent years, he also begun participating in LEGO Ideas and various online contests, always keeping experimentation, creativity, and passion for bricks at the centre of him work.

The Microscale builds he produces are spectacular and offer a different take to the norm. Covering a vast range of themes, from movies, TV shows, architecture, art, Christmas, animals, and of course LEGO sets. That is our main focus today, shrinking The Creel House from the hit Netflix TV show Stranger Things.

Fresh off the press at LEGO, but already on a very long back order list, is the latest spooky house to hit TV screens – The Creel House. Seen in the last couple of seasons of the show, the house is seemingly a cosy and inviting one, but as the season progresses we learn the evil truth behind it and the horrors that have occurred there, oh and that it’s the lair of the shows villain.

We here at The Brick Post love the show and anything related to it, we stayed up until midnight on January 1st to order both the set and gift with purchase, plus the new LEGO BrickHeadz, and can’t wait to receive and build it. Until then, we will sit here appreciating the fantastic Microscale version of it in all its glory.

Just like the official set, this one can also be slid open to resemble the cracks running through the build when Hawkins (where Stranger Things is located) fractures I to four. It’s amazing the level of detail captured in such a small format, the dark blue colour of the house, black roof, white pillars & fences, and the two cars, and that’s just the front. Flip it around and you’ll see the grandfather clock, which is a prominent and recurring feature in the show.

If you’re interested in building this yourself, Brick_olo has you covered. He often uploads instructions via his Instagram account free of charge. Once my order arrives, I will place a Pick-A-Brick order and source the parts needed that way – I need this Microscale build in my collection!

That’s not all, Brick_olo has also recreated the tie-in gift with purchase set in miniature form, that’s right, the WSQK Radio Station is available too. It’s one thing to rebuild the main set but the GWP as well? Amazing!

Taken straight from the free set, we see the main features are intact, the Broadcast room, the curved seating, cupboard and small table – all we need now are the Minifigures in microscale. Based on 6×8 plates and featuring a handful of parts, it’s amazing how Marco does it, he’s got a real talent and is a credit to the LEGO community, keep up the incredible work.

Please do check out Marco and his designs on Instagram and other platforms, give him a follow and watch what other awesome creations he comes up with. Don’t forget instructions are often available alongside the Microscale builds. Like we mentioned before there are many subjects he covers, so definitely check them out too, the LEGO UCS Death Star looks especially cute as a tiny build.

Thank you for reading through this Behind The Brick feature of Brick_olo, we truly hope you enjoyed it, we love diving into the community and shining the spotlight on deserving creators. Until next time, happy building!
