He said “I’ll be back“, and he is, The Terminator 2 custom LEGO Minifigures from Minifigs.me are here and what fans of the franchise have been waiting for!
The cult classic 80s & 90s movies are adored by many, the futuristic sci-fi has survived the test of time and many other stories have followed since. For those that haven’t watched Terminator 2: Judgment Day, it follows a reprogrammed T-800 cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) sent back to 1995 to protect a young John Connor from the T-1000, an advanced, liquid-metal Terminator tasked with killing him. John and his mother, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), team up with the T-800 to prevent the impending nuclear apocalypse, “Judgment Day,” by targeting its creator.
The action sequences, chase-style storyline and legendary quotes are what make this movie one of the greatest in the franchise and in all of cinema history. That’s why when Minifigs.me gave us a sneak-peek of their updated designs, we knew they were a must have. They kindly sent us both the T-800 and T-1000 series characters to review – let’s take a closer look at them below.
Starting off with The Terminator himself – known as Series T-800 and Model 101, the character is a total badass, with his sunglasses, leather jacket, and beasty weaponry. The Minifigs.me team have done an outstanding job recreating Arnie as a custom LEGO Minifigure, with their all over body printing and dual faces. You can display the cybernetic machine with his battleworn head, complete with exposed and piercing red eye. Or swivel the head round and pose with his shades – both ways are amazing and show two sides to one character.
This Minifigure comes complete with a gun, a brick-built recreation of an M134 Minigun to be precise. The handheld, high-speed rotary machine gun used during the police car shootout, modified to fire at 1,250 rounds per minute. This alone is worth the price tag, it’s not only a nice looking build, but also enchances the Mini ready for displaying or popping in a MOC.
The T-1000 is a completely different model, although in LEGO Minifigure form it isn’t too dissimilar. The hair piece is a little tall for my liking but totally understand the decision to use it, there aren’t a lot of choices when it comes to slightly puffy mid-90s styles. The head is dual-sided and features the futuristic killing machines standard expression, but turn it around and you’ll see where the T-800 shot him in the face. The detail here are incredible, the photos I’ve taken don’t do it justice at all.
The American cop torso and legs look great and feature a few details, such as a badge, pockets, a belt, and general creases. You may have noticed the right hand is different, this is a new 3D printed element from Minifigs.me exclusively for this Minifigure. It recreates the iconic scene where the T-1000 transforms his arms into long metal skewers – thankfully this custom LEGO element isn’t quite as deadly (although is somewhat fragile, so please be careful).
