One of the latest designs to gain the required 10,000 supporters at LEGO Ideas is inspired by the Endurance spacecraft and crew from the blockbuster movie Interstellar!
Minibrick41587 is back with another Interstellar inspired set that has successfully making it through to a future review stage. The brick-built recreation of the Endurance spacecraft, along with the crew as Minifigures, captures the massive ring-shaped vessel perfectlt. It roughly measures 65-72 meters in diameter and features 12 modular units that can be disassembled for colonization. The ship rotates to generate artificial gravity and acts as a central hub for the Ranger and Lander shuttlecrafts. If you are unfamiliar with the movie iteself, it follows the farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, on a future Earth that has become uninhabitable. Cooper is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans. The blockbuster by Christopher Nolan, is one of the greatest sci-fi films ever, it uses actual scientific research and has even contributed a lot to our modern understanding of Space.
The idea looks great and one many fans would love to get their hands on, I know I would. This meticulously designed LEGO Ideas set brings the adventure of space exploration to life, it features a ton of cool elements, building techniques, and of course Minifigures. At just over 3,000 pieces, the model packs in a lot of cool things:
- The iconic Endurance ring module, fully detailed and ready for display!
- Two Rangers, each with a mini interior designed to fit TARS and CASE!
- Two Landers, built to dock both right-side up and upside down (when there’s no time for caution)!
- A display stand, showcasing micro-figures of Cooper, Brand, Doyle, Romilly, and Dr. Mann — plus mini versions of TARS and CASE!
- Minifigures of Cooper, Brand, Doyle, Romilly, TARS, and CASE!
Unfortunately reaching the required goal of 10,000 supporters doesn’t guarantee it’ll be made into a real-life LEGO set, but there is hope for fans as the LEGO Ideas team will debate on and choose which sets will be lucky enough to make it through sometime next/this year – we wish Minibrick41587 the best of luck in the next stage.
