Hi everyone, Brick McBricksworth here with a review on another LetBricks set, which was kindly gifted to us for review.
The set is has a whopping 2,895 pieces and is a MOC based on a Soviet Sub Project 941 from the Cold War. The real thing is the largest ballistic sub ever built, so rather fitting this build is almost 70cm long. On the LetBricks website it states it is designed & licensed in accordance with Mr J Builds.

The instruction manual was clear and very easy to follow, I like the addition of when you need a tile for instance it tells you the size of it, which is quite helpful. The way the bags are set out is really helpful also, with each of the main big bags (1-8) containing on average 8 bags that are also numbered 1-8 etc. Making it so you don’t have tons of pieces floating about on your build table. Very handy if like myself you get around 20 minutes build time every now and then. On the website it also shows this build will take around 2 hours. I’m not a slow builder and it took around 5 hours, so take that with a pinch of salt.

The build itself is rather straight forward and is relatively easy with no real technical build techniques. The build starts from the bottom of the sub up and within two bags you are already getting to see just how big it is! It is very sturdy throughout the build with no worry about pieces falling apart when you build. One you have the bottom done with some nice smooth tile work you start to build the interior and the side walls. This builds up over most of the process as there are a lot of details like missile bay the cabins the drive rooms etc all in a mini scale.

Later you start to build the main body over the top of all this with the usual reduced amount of studs to be able to easily lift portions off to have a look inside. One thing I must say with the bricks, this is made from (Reo Bricks). They are very tight in some parts if you don’t have strong fingers to push pats together you are going to need a little brick hammer or something to aid you. That being said the pieces don’t have the issue where bits just slip off.

My personal view on stickers is well documented on my reviews… The stickers are that I have encountered once before where they are a transfer style sticker where you use a clear part of the sticker to peel it off the main sheet and position that press down then pull that off and the main sticker is then in place. This is easier said than done. I encountered a couple that wouldn’t come off the clear backing and cracked a couple of the stickers which made it tough to then marry up. Also in the build community we make jokes about only having one chance to get a sticker right. Well with these you truly have one chance and one chance only! If you slip up and try to remove the sticker it tends to split.

- Build quality 8/10
- Look of the model 9/10
- Instructions 10/10 (Clear easy to follow and more helpful than other brands)
- Part selection/colour choice 9/10
- Brick quality 7/10 some people will struggle with how stiff some parts are.
- Stickers 6/10 (although they actually do look good if you get them right, it’s not great if you miss align any of them.)
- Overall an 8/10 build. Looks great and accurate. Stiff pieces can be a disadvantage but also an advantage as it will stay together! Stickers look good if can be applied perfectly.
