I have said many times over the years that “I don’t do BrickHeadz“, but it turns out that’s a massive lie, I actually do and have quite the collection. From many Harry Potter characters, Marvel Superheroes, Transformers and more, even the very first Stranger Things BrickHeadz set with Eleven and the Demogorgon!
When LEGO first revealed the new BrickHeadz set I just knew I had to get it, so when 1st October came, I jumped on LEGO.com and placed my order. A week later they arrived and built them straight away whilst watching the show, we started rewatching it and currently on Season 3, it’s such an epic show. I askedy Wife and Son if they wanted to help build their favourite characters, but thankfully sadly they both declined. So on I cracked, building alone, but watching the TV show as a family, pure bliss.

The Box & Contents:
Taking a closer look at the box you see just bout cool it is, being based on Season 1 the boys look especially retro, in their garish 80s clothing and stereotypical hair styles. Behind them is the forest Will Byers goes missing in, with a blue tint it looks eerily perfect. The BrickHeadz logo is in one corner and the Stranger Things logo in the other, both look bright and standout well. On the back are the boys again, but in a different order, nothing changed about them just a slightly lineup.
Inside you’ll find 5 numbered bags and 4 small instructions manuals. It’s a great set to build with others, each picking your favourite character, ‘bugsy not Will!‘. There’s not too much dissimilar to each build as the base and insides are pretty much identical, the exterior is where the differences are, with clothing, hair and headbands.

The Builds:
As mentioned before, the builds are roughly the same until you get to a certain point, as all BrickHeadz are. The bases are 6×6 plates with tiles and studs that secure the figure I place whilst displayed.
Each character has their signature look and accessory, Will Byers has his bowl-cut hair, Dustin Henderson has the iconic base ball cap and walkie talkie headset, Lucas Sinclair with his bandana an slingshot, and finally Mike Wheeler with his walkie talkie. They also have their Season 1 outfits on, fully printed tiles that make each character look awesome

From the back they look great too, either the hair styles and different textures shines through. Dustin’s curls look especially good with 1×1 cylinder pieces being used to great effect. Each of them also sports their backpacks, Mike’s is a bit more fancy as a few colours have been used to represent it, the others are quite plain and bland.
MY favourite of the builds was Dustin, his hat was cool to build and added something different into the mix, Lucas was also a nice build with his bandana and binoculars. Each character has their own techniques, the hair was the main one as they all have different hairstyles, the bodies were pretty much standard across the board and obviously the clothing was different albeit similar as tiles, arms, legs etc are build the same across most LEGO BrickHeadz sets.

Overall the LEGO BrickHeadz Stranger Things (40801) set is a nice addition to the family and if you’re a fan of the Netflix TV show then I’d definitely recommend these to you. With the final season airinf soon, 26th/27th November, these will be a must build when watching. We’d love to see more added to the lineup, as many characters have yet to be given the BrickHeadz treatment. We’ve have Eleven and a Demogorgon already, but where’s Joyce and Hopper, Venca and Henry (before & after), Murray and Alexis, the list goes on.
