Hey everyone! Jamie here with another third party brick review. Today we will take a look at DK’s White City which is available from Barweer. Use code JAMIE14 for 14% Discount on all Barweer sets, and make sure to check out their EU/US warehouse for quicker delivery!
DK were quickly becoming one of my favourite Asian brick companies following an amazing Tree Beard/Ent inspired build and now the White City which is based on Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings, but on the ‘were’ later…

The Build:
Now the build really is brilliant! Full of fascinating techniques with hinges and pin/socket connections to create the round shape of the city. Make sure to check out my TikTok and Instagram for a more detailed look at them. The city is split in half (based on the design in the film), created in 6/7 levels and is designed in microscale with headlight pieces being used predominantly to create windows and doorways. I also love the use of the hairbrushes as the trees!
The colour scheme used is very affecive with off-white, olive, sand green and sand blue parts giving the build a more antique look.

As part of the build you also get a Minifigure scale throne room at the back of the build, which looks awesome (especially with the blue/white light brick included) but I don’t really understand why it was included?
The instructions were very clear and understandable, however I’m deducting some points because it has you rotate the entire build far to often which could have been better planned (it’s clear the build has been made in a digital designer).

Now for the kicker (that I discovered post finishing the set) and which may put a lot of people off buying this set and understandably for buying third party sets in the first place. The design is not an original to DK. In fact its been taken from a MOC design by Swan Dutchman on flickr. The only difference is that it includes half the city and removes the Pellanor Fields from the front of the build. This is an unfortunate reality of the Asian market and one thing I actively try to avoid, but sometimes certain builds slip through the cracks.

So with that being said, yes it’s an awesome build, but that’s because the design belongs to someone else. Barweer as a marketplace have limited control of this, but I will make sure to do more rigorous research for future sets.
Until next time, I’ve been Jamie!
