Hey everyone, Brick McBricksworth here with a review on a LetBricks Set that may well be on everyones wishlist by the end of this review, and certainly as we are now in the last quarter of the year it’s getting to that time where we all want to cosy up with a good build ready for displaying at Christmas. I am of course referring to the Christmas Polar Locomotive!
This build on LetBricks website states “100% licensed from designer Gabriele”, which is a good sign as others tend to ‘take’ the designs and not give credit to the original builder.

The set has a whopping 3,030 pieces and is defiantly one of the more advanced style builds, when it arrived it was in bags but all pieces were sorted into same styles and not numbered so this is a big tip-out and find the pieces the old fashioned way. Personally I don’t mind this at all as it adds to the build process in my view. (May be an unpopular opinion with some folk out there?).
Now firstly I will just go ahead and say this is a massive build and is a definite centrepiece display item. The track you get with the set is 6ft long when built and no joke, the train and carriages cover the whole 6ft of track!

You start the build on the first carriage, that in itself is quite simple to build and is very strong and sturdy once complete. This is then followed by the second and third carriage which are similar in build except the interior is different in all three. They are very close in design to the ones from the popular Xmas film. But in brick form. It could be considered repetitive to an extent but I enjoyed watching it come together all the same and once one was built I was able to build the other two carriages without having to think what goes where when you sometimes get stuck on a build of tis size.
I am going to leave it there with the carriages and with help from the photos you can see what it looks like when being built to when each carriage looks finished.

We come now to the main train section and first you build the tender and this is also quite a big part of the build and there is definitely room inside the finished build to pop a motor in and have it motorised with very little modifications. (How well that would work due to the length and weight of the model would yet to be determined).
Then onto the main engine and this is what I would say was the tough part of the build as it was a little unstable in structure until it was built up to near the end. That being said I didn’t have actual issues in the build and am rather glad this was left till the end as the before mentioned lack of numbered bags and these pieces all being black made it easier to have it at the end. Well planned out by the instructions designer.

There was however some parts on my build that are a little flimsy and are prone to fall off but I would consider these parts as decorative parts and aren’t structural.
- Build quality 8/10
- Look of the model 9/10
- Instructions 7/10 (they were a google file which looks like it was made in stud.io and in these some steps can be a little backwards)
- Part selection/colour choice 9/10
Overall an 8/10 build. A whoppingly impressive sized build but has some minor imperfections in some decorative parts prone to falling off.
