This LEGO Ideas fan submitted design slipped through our net, pun totally intended, and it looks absolutely stunning. It made it into the Third 2025 Review Stage, which runs until 5th January 2026!
The Life of Koi project was submitted by GenericBrix, who unfortunately had a former TETRIS Solid idea rejected not too long ago. This new idea though is completely different and focus on Koi, that have been meticulously recreated with LEGO bricks and pieces. After a successful run it made the required 10,000 supporters and joins other submissions which make up the next Review Stage. Fans could see the idea come to life if the project is chosen by the powers that be.
This build measures 52 x 84 x 8 studs and has a total of 2000 pieces. It takes inspiration from previous LEGO ART sets with the layering of elements to create a 3D-like picture that is both bright and interesting to look at.
Around my younger years, I used to know a friend who owned a lot of Koi Fish in a pond located in her backyard. Not only was the pond full of Koi, it was full of life. Foliage, frogs, lily pads, and dragonflies complimented the feeling of peace and serenity. This wonderful memory gave me the idea to create a koi fish pond as a wall canvas. – GenericBrix
Unfortunately reaching the goal doesn’t guarantee it’ll be made into a real-life LEGO set, but there is hope for fans as the LEGO Ideas team will debate on and choose which sets will be lucky enough to make it through sometime next year – we wish GenericBrix the best of luck in the next stage.
