The Sony Playstation, a gaming icon, a slice of history, the console that changed everything – it was a no-brainer that when a brick-built one appeared on LEGO Ideas I just had to share it!
Today’s feature is from MoniBricks and their incredibly awesome recreation of the very first Sony Playstation. It was a part of my growing up, a staple of many friendships and a whole lot of fun to play and experience gaming in a while new way. Seeing this sat there on the LEGO Ideas platform, it was screaming out to be shared and appreciated by true fans and brick lovers alike.

The set overall looks amazing and from the pictures you can tell it’s full of details, features and references to the original console. The shape is perhaps the most iconic feature about it, the grey slab with circular buttons and disk drive cover, complete with PS logo. To make things even cooler the lid actually flips up to reveal the disc tray. It also includes two classic Controllers and two Memory Cards that fit into their slots.
The top cover can be removed to reveal the internal components: the optical reader, motherboard, processor, cables, and button mechanics, all carefully built in LEGO.
Following the likes of the LEGO NES and LEGO Atari console sets, this would be a wise decision for LEGO to choose and make. The PS1 marked the start of 3D gaming and brought unforgettable soundtracks and legendary titles to many people’s lives. I would totally purchase this if given the chance – come on LEGO, this needs to be produced!
