Whilst perusing Rebrickable, the world’s largest marketplace for MOCs, Alternative Builds and more, I came across an awesome Gundam inspired build by (void*)main() using the LEGO Saturn V (92176/21309)!

I’ll admit that I don’t really know too much about Gundam but from what I’ve seen it focuses on giant robot mechs. It is a Japanese military science fiction media franchise created by Yoshiyuki Tomino for Sunrise, the franchise features giant robots, or mecha, known as “Mobile Suits“, typically including a prominent one carrying the name “Gundam“.

The talented creator here has taken one seemingly unrelated set, LEGO Saturn V (92176/21309), and transformed it into a badass-looking Gundam mecha – complete with base and stand. This particular Gundam mecha is roughly proportioned to the RX-78-2 at 1/60 scale. The build looks sturdy, but the creator has said the joints don’t have adequate clutch power to hold poses. Therefore, instructions for a stand are included. Some iconic poses are possible without the stand, but these tend to be, at best, quasi-stable (like the kneeling pose).

Is your LEGO Saturn V gathering dust or needs new life injected into it? Give this alternative LEGO build a go and create something different and utter awesome.

The alternative design can be found on Rebrickable, where you’ll find the instructions which are entirely free of chrage. Both versions of the LEGO Saturn V set are retired so sourcing a used set maybe your best bet, if you don’t have it already. Please like and comment on the creators post to show your support, Thank you. Happy Building!
