The latest LEGO Ideas fan submitted design to make it to 10k supporters is based on a loveable, lasagne-craving cat called Garfield!

The project was submitted by Packatrix and is the most recent submission to hit the required 10,000 supporters mark. It joins other submissions which make up the next Review Stage. Fans could see the idea come to life if the project is chosen by the powers that be.

Garfield – Jim Davis’ loveable, lazy, lasagne-craving Cat has 1,453 pieces and features a brick-built model of Garfield, it also has customisation options for the eyes. The head and legs also have basic articulation for other display options.

This model is based on his early 1980s appearance, as Garfield’s creator made quite a few changes over the years, mostly to give Garfield a wider range of motion… according to him, this was basically make it easier for him to boot Odie of the table! Garfield debuted in 1978, but other than his colours, he looks very, very different to his early 80s incarnation, let alone the late 80s. But this is the one, I grew up with and know best, so I stuck with this. – Packatrix

Unfortunately reaching the goal doesn’t guarantee it’ll be made into a real-life LEGO set, but there is hope for fans as the LEGO Ideas team will debate on and choose which sets will be lucky enough to make it through sometime next year – we wish Packatrix the best of luck in the next stage.
