The list of LEGO Ideas submissions that have made it through to the next review stage keeps growing, with the latest one based on Asterix & Obelix!
The fan designer, KyriakosBuilder, is back in the running with their Asterix & Obelix set idea. The project made it through to a previous Review Stage but sadly wasn’t chosen despite being extremely popular. It’s the most recent design to hit the required 10,000 supporters mark and joins other submissions which make up the next Review Stage. Fans could see the idea come to life if the project is chosen by the powers that be.
This project is based upon the comic series by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Asterix is a French comic album series about a Gaulish village which, thanks to a magic potion that enhances strength, resists the forces of Julius Caesar‘s Roman Republic Army in a nonhistorical telling of the time after the Gallic Wars.

Since I was a child, I am a fan of Lego and of Asterix & Obelix. So one and one is two! Here is a combination of both of my favorites: Lego Asterix & Obelix!
KyriakosBuilder has done a wonderful job in capturing the characters, the architecture of that era, and the story telling behind it all. Fans of both the series and LEGO would love to get their hands on this set if it were real. The hut of Asterix, the hut of Obelix and the tree hut of Assurancetourix/Cacofonix are the main builds of this set idea. These huts are based upon the designs of the late Albert Uderzo. Asterix’ hut was present from the start of his great adventures but Obelix’ house had a late appearance in the comic series. Assurancetourix’ hut is very iconic for the Gaulish village because it stands out above all dwellings. The cabins are accompanied by some set pieces to make the surroundings of the buildings complete. These smaller builds add more nature and color to this product idea. It breathes the atmosphere of the Gaulish world that Goscinny and Uderzo have created. All builds put together gives the Lego fan a piece of Asterix’ world at home.
Unfortunately reaching the required goal of 10,000 supporters doesn’t guarantee it’ll be made into a real-life LEGO set, but there is hope for fans as the LEGO Ideas team will debate on and choose which sets will be lucky enough to make it through sometime next year – we wish KyriakosBuilder the best of luck in the next stage.
