When it comes to LEGO and their extraordinary way of stringing fans along, they are second to none. It’s clear they like to space out releases and tease us with certain elements, the most recent is the light blue Astronaut Minifigure!

First appearing in BaM (build-a-minifigure) Stations, the lighter shade of blue known officially as Light Azure, has become a torso and matching legs. Whack the Classic Space logo into the torso and hey-presto you have the start of yet another brightly coloured LEGO Space Minifigure to collect. It initially started life as Mr. Oz, from LEGO DreamZzz, but being LEGO parts you most certainly don’t have to make him. Simply pop the torso and legs in the BaM box and add whichever head and accessories you wish.

The only things missing are the light blue Helmet and light blue Airtanks. So here’s where LEGO string fans along, in the recently revealed LEGO Ideas Italian Riviera (21359) set, I’ve spotted light blue Airtanks! That’s right, LEGO have bunged just one set of Airtanks in a set priced £249.99/$299.99.

This isn’t the first time LEGO have done this, in the past other LEGO Astronauts and other more sought-after Minifigure parts have been included in expensive sets. From a business point of view I totally get it, fans want a certain piece so chuck it in a bigger set to try and sell more. But from a fan and Minifigure collectors point of view it’s totally disrespectful and often sours our love for the brand.

Here’s hoping it appears in a future BaM release or smaller set! Please share your thoughts on this in the comments below.
