Comparing the height of toys to their fictional counterparts can be tricky, especially when there are countless iterations of them. Take today’s comparison for instance, Transformers, there are so many varying heights. For this blog I’ll stick to the original G1 Animated Series from the mid 80s!

Starting with the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime stands a whopping 38 feet and 1 inch tall. His towering stature and quite weighty torso give him the presence, confidence and force needed to lead. His transformed form is the red, chrome and blue big-rig truck we all know and love, so it makes sense there is more to Optimus Prime than meets the eye.

Bumblebee, also an Autobot, best known for being a little yellow Beetle vehicle or in the Bayverse, a bright yellow Camero. He is a lot shorter, standing just 16 feet tall. Don’t let his lack of height fool you though, he has courage and loyalty locked down and has awesome style when fighting Decepticons.

Soundwave, a Decepticon through-and-through, a loyal lieutenant to Megatron. He stands at a respectable 18 feet tall, making him slightly taller than most Decepticons. His transformation form is a cassette tape, which is both extremely cool and odd at the same time, what use is a cassette tape on the battlefield?

When you take the heights of these three Transformers and stand them next to their LEGO counterparts, the height discrepancies don’t match up and the overall lineup is wrong, from a G1 point of view. As stated earlier, sizes are different in every instance of the Transformers. The cartoons, the Bayverse and the many other incarnations of these action robots.

Optimus Prime stands 35cm tall, Bumblebee 25cm and Soundwave 33cm. As you can see, according to G1, the heights don’t marry up at all, don’t get me started on their transformations, that’s a whole other kettle of fish.

But you have to agree, they still look badass standing all together!
