Say Cheese – The Retro Collection Twin Lens Reflex Camera From Pantasy Is Here!

Hi folks, Stuart from @mcbricksbricks here, today I bring you a review on the latest Pantasy set, the Retro Collection Twin Lens Reflex Camera!

My thanks firstly to Pantasy for sending this set over for me to review exclusively for The Brick Post.

This new product from is a continuation of the Retro theme where they recreate household items, such as a Sewing Machine, Cassette Player and more. Firstly I would like to say that when you look at buying an alternative brand brick set they tend to be on the side of several thousand pieces and although a lot cheaper in comparison to the Danish brand they are still big sets with larger price tags. This one is a smaller, less imposing, build with 793 pieces, that retails at a mere $69.99. 

This set has one sole purpose and that is to look and feel like a real camera from back in the old days of film. It does this really well and more. Having been a professional photographer in a past life I jumped at the opportunity to review this set. It features realistic looking dials and twin lens, as well as a lift up viewfinder and even a rotating knob that zooms the whole face of the camera in and out. It boasts some specialist parts too which are a fab addition such as a mirror piece, a convex lens, and another lens in the viewfinder which when you look through the top viewfinder you can actually see through the lens at the front. 

It also has realistic looking insides, where the film would go and even a winder that winds on a cog inside imitating the actual function on a real camera. It’s a great build where you build the main three walls and then insert the front and lock it in with some sliding door rail pieces in recessed bricks. A simple but effective technique.

Like all Pantasy sets it comes with printed parts, making for a crisp look and no messing about with stickers. It comes with a Mini-guy that stands on a little plinth that you attach a brick built film to with 3D raised printing on these pieces. These are new to me but the raised prints look brill.
