As you know we here at The Brick Post love our Minifigures, be it official LEGO or custom printed, we just can’t get enough of the little characters. Our good friends Martin (@boombrickz) and Jay (@superhero_bricks) have teamed up and started a brand new company called BoomBrickz Customs. They have kindly sent me a selection to take a closer look at and give my thoughts on.
Today they are launching a Marvel character best known for being part of the X-Men, introducing Angel (Archangel)!
For those that don’t know the character that well or at all, Warren Worthington III is a millionaire playboy as well as a mutant gifted with wings that allow him to soar into the skies as the high-flying Angel of the first class of X-Men. Parallel to his angelic persona, Worthington also operates as the death machine named Archangel. Wishing to put his abilities to help those in need, Angel started to avenge crime by himself as a vigilante before being found by Professor Xavier and recruited to his X-Men. He stood by the X-Men in times of need, until departing after no longer recognizing Xavier’s dream in face of aggressive new mutants joining his class. Wishing to finance super heroics, he was also an inestimable supporter and founder of the Champions, the Defenders, and X-Factor.
Being a new company and launching into a market of some well known names, BoomBrickz Customs has taken it upon themselves to bring something new to the customs table. Not only do they design and print their own designs onto genuine LEGO parts, but they also produce 3D Printed elements that fit perfectly with the characters they are portraying. Angel is a culmination of the above and done to amazing effect – the printing is crisp, the design is spot on and the wings are truly the icing on the cake.
Having reviewed our fair share of custom Minifigures, BoomBrickz Customs is already up there with the best. I may struggle knowing which characters are which outside the mainstream Marvel Universe, but I do appreciate a Minifigure when I see one, and Angel is one of them. Using UV-printing, the ink is layed and somewhat embossed, which is totally fine as many other companies use this method, I personally prefer this way of printing and I’ll be be honest, when I opened the package I was convinced they looked just like LEGO Minifigures and couldn’t tell if they were custom or not they are that good!
Do we recommended checking out BoomBrickz Customs? Totally! They have only just launched their website but already have a great selection of goodies available, from Minifigures to Tiles, and even LEGO sets. Some additions are perfect for Cities, especially the ‘Don’t feed the Pigeons‘ sign. Watch this space for more new releases, reviews and news from the world of BoomBrickz Customs – we can’t wait to see where they take it.
