With the recent announcement of the LEGO Lord of the Rings Sauron’s Helmet (11373) set, and a much more affordable Sauron Minifigure, it got me thinking of the many other Helmets from the world of Humans, Orcs, Elves, Dwarves and mythical beasts!
The list is vast, with many factions from the incredible world crafted by J.R.R Tolkien, sporting helmets and fantasical headgear. From the simple but elegant Rohan headwear and the slightly more flamboyant Gondor helmet, to the sleek Elven option or the truly terrifying Nazgul and the Witch King. There are literally hundreds of helmets to choose from, way more than I had imagined when researching this topic, the Trolls and Orcs that live under the mountain have countless iterations of noggin’ protectors.
My personal favourite would indeed be the upcoming Sauron helmet, it’s gruesome, brutal, and looks badass. LEGO have certainly done a great job with their take on the Dark Lords helmet. Is it day one? Not likely, but it will be mine, my precious… OK, I’m not that bad.
