Martin, a.k.a LEGO Fan UK, has welcomed us, The Brick Post, into his popular video series which sees him chatting to creators of the submissions on LEGO Ideas. This week we have Aaron who runs CabbageFaceLego over on YouTube and Instagram, he has several Ideas on the go at present but today both Martin and I are focusing on his latest addition…

LNER Class A4 4468 Mallard

LEGO Trains have become progressively less and less over the years but seem to still be just as popular and have a massive following, there are many groups with thousands of members and regularly post their own custom creations.

LEGO recently released the Crocodile Locomotive and again it was very popular with fans, which is great to see. Perhaps LEGO are testing the market with this release and will gauge whether or no lt to revive the line, excuse the pun 😉

Aaron, using Stud.io, has constructed a Mallard, in all its blue, aerodynamic glory!

“I built this as not only is a marvel of “Victorian” British engineering but an aerodynamic wonder of its age, fully tested in a wind tunnel.”

The whole build is 742 pieces and includes;

  • Train
  • Coal cart
  • Display stand
  • Water tank
  • Driver and Mate minifigures.

Aaron’s attention to detail is astounding and compliments the original locomotive really well. From the iconic aerodynamic slope at the front and the long blue body to the matching tender at the rear. The whole set would look amazing sat on display in any fans collection!

With the addition of the display plinth and the extra water tank build it truly is an idea that has been thought through throughly.

Personally speaking I really do like this idea, the whole train scene in general is fascinating and having recently dipped my toe into it, in its LEGO form, I now have a great fondness for locomotives. Also having built the recent LEGO Crocodile Locomotive set I appreciate the detail more so that goes into designing and constructing a Train model.

Job well done Aaron!
